Congratulations to all members of the team from Gleeds, Nottingham who cycled around Rutland Water to raise funds for Gift of Sight. One of their work colleagues is being treated for glaucoma and they felt that supporting our work would raise awareness of eye disease and, of course, help our research. Thank you so much all of you for this tremendous support.

Huge thanks to Connie Phipps as President of Braeside Bowling Club at St Leonards for a warm welcome to her President's Day. We spent a super afternoon watching bowls followed by a delicious supper and the presentation of a cheque for £1087.30. Fundraising for Connie's year in office continues through until November and now is the time to thank all the members of the Club for their huge support for Connie and, of course, Gift of Sight.

'A perfect English summer afternoon' was held at The Island, Greatbridge, Romsey by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Christopher Saunders-Davies. Dame Mary Fagan DCVO, President of Gift of Sight, opened the event and guests enjoyed tea and cakes, home baked by Jackie Davies and Jo Lines. Music was provided by 'The Watercress Quartet' which gave a delightful background to the event. A total of £1600 was raised and we would like to thank everyone who helped to make the afternoon such an outstanding success. Photo: Courtesy of Mr Glenn Roze.

The members of the Hedge End 2000 Lunch Club raised £400 for Gift of Sight at a fundraising lunch, held on Wednesday 9 July. The annual charity lunch allows members to invite a guest and to pay for their lunch and funds are helped further by the organisation of a raffle. A delightful way to spend a couple of hours and many thanks to Sheila Hales and all members of the lunch club for making me so very welcome and for the delicious lunch provided. AMW
